Antique Yemeni necklace with 5 large "Badihi Globe" beads
Largest bead 32x25mm, and 4 beads about 28x25mm
None of the beads appear to be signed although one looks like the signature panel could have been worn down over time, or removed.
These beads are called Badihi after an extended family of Jewish rabbis and master silversmiths who worked in Yemen until the emigrated to Israel in the late 1940s.
Of the 3 necklaces I have this one is the heaviest, indicating it might be the oldest, the Bowsani style beads between the larger beads also show more wear
Between the larger beads in this traditional necklace are round silver beads and simple versions of another classic Yemeni bead called Boswani
Of the 3 necklaces I have this one is the heaviest, indicating it might be the oldest, the Bowsani style beads between the larger beads also show more wear. Two cones and silver chain finish it off
