Thai silver, large cylinders made of interwoven strips of fine silver in a traditional basketweave patters, 17x9mm with 2mm holes
I was delighted on my most recent trip to Thailand in October, to find some great new shapes, both flat and three dimensional for this collection. Supplies are limited and silver prices are going up so don't delay.
Both Thailand and Indonesia have exquisite bead and fiber traditions and I love it even more when they overlap!
Our Thai silver (aka Hill Tribe) is made by Karen smiths and other ethnic groups living in villages in the highlands of the Golden Triangle near Chiang Mai. In addition to the beautiful soft glow of the fine silver, the work is meticulous, often featuring detailed stamped or etched designs in traditional, as well as contemporary, shapes and patterns.
