Curved, collectible Antique Venetian Trade Bead with entire multi-color canes applied to the core lengthwise, rather than in the usual way as thin slices (aka murrine)
A glimpse of the cross section of the canes can be seen at the end of the bead
For better images see JSD-266, JSD-241 or JSD-249
I'm not sure why this would be done, surely many more beads could have been made if they canes were sliced into murrine.
Only one available, altho I have a set of 2 (JSD-266) from this batch
From the collection of Joyce Diamanti, bead researcher, writer, and educator.
