  • Labradorite faceted flat ovals about 8-10mm by 12-14mm on 10.5-inch strands
  • These are drilled through the short side giving them an unusual shape
  • Both the shape and faceting show off the fire in these stones, which unfortunately is very hard to capture in an image. Like most labradorite on this site, these bead look better in person than in the picture. I have a good return policy if you are not satisfied.
  • Labradorite is named after the Labrador Peninsula in Canada where it was first found in 1770, although it didn't become widely popular until centuries later.
  • Then and now it's prized for its "fire" (aka labradorescense) which gives of intermittent flashes of blue, green, gold or other colors depending on the light
  • Labradorite's quality and price is judged largely on the amount of fire it has
  • It's found in Canada, Madagascar, Mexico, Russia and the USA
  • Robert Simmons declares labradorite to be "the gemstone of magic, and it awakens in those who carry or wear it, the awareness of one's innate magical powers" and enhancing these abilities, including intuition, clairvoyance, telepathy, and other psychic abilities.
