An unusual and more contemporary round Gau box or amulet case popular throughout the ages in Himalayan countries like Tibet, Nepal. Bhutan and parts of northern India.
27mm diameter with small coral insets. 10mm thick.
The back of the box can be removed, be very careful to do it gently so you don't deform the thin metal that make the seamless fit without needing a catch or cord.
These boxes traditionally contained prayers written on paper or cloth, herbal medicines or objects known for their protective properties.
This one is relatively new I've had it about 15 years. It's stamped with 92.5 on the back indicating sterling silver content. I was told it was made in Nepal, by Tibetan refugees.
