Antique Holari (aka Haulare) molded clear glass pendants, submarine shaped, similar to Islamic cartouche pendants. 25x15mm
Made in Bohemia (now Czech Republic) for the African trade between 1850s and 1900
They were a great favorite of Fulani women, who wore them singly or in groups of 2 or 3 on necklaces and sometimes also in their hair.
Most Holari beads seem to have a matte or semi-matte finish, whether they were made this way or if it's the result of age and weathering in a desert environment, I don't know.
