Vintage Ethiopian blade shaped bone pendant embellished on both sides with dots and 45 circle/dot eye designs. 5 inches long. Fancier than most, this one has a well worn hole at the top and is aged to a wam medium light amber color.
These were traditionally worn by men (possibly healers or diviners according to my sources) on long necklaces that often included trade beads such as Russian Blues and/or White Hearts.
They make bold pendants, I've seen them used horizontally as focals, sometimes with strands of beads dangling from them, as well as a vertically pendant.
Beads appear more and more in home decor, I can also see these working nicely as fan, light or curtain pulls.
I recently found a stash in storage so there's a nice selection, each one unique.
