Set of 3 beads, a genuine antique Akosu bead, a mysterious diamond shaped bead that looks, but doesn't feel like, it's made by the dry powderglass method. the third bead is a small simple layered powderglass bead of the 1970s
Akosu is 20x14mm, amber colored glass with a pattern of crossed oval shapes on both sides n red and green glass. The word Akosu describes this shape of crossed oval lines and has been adopted as the name for the bead.
The diamond shaped bead is like nothing I've ever seen before. It's easy to see how it could have been made with layers of pulversized glass in a mold, possibly with two seed beads melted in on each side. However it is much smoother and more completely fused than most modern powderglass beads. The smooth surface might be due to long term wear.
Only one available. The images show both sides.
