Early Tom Boylan bead, with sea and golden sand in waves pattern
45x18mm, each bead designed by the late Tom Boylan is unique
Tom lived on the coast in Mendocino County, CA and often walked on the beaches as well as in the redwood forests.
Self-taught artist, Tom was one of the earliest American contemporary glass bead-makers. Also an avid gardener and astrologer, his beads seem infused with both nature and the cosmos. They appeal equally to men and women, and were among the most popular we carried in the Beadazzled stores.
Tom used borosilcate tubing as the base for his beads, adding dots and stripes. Then temporarily closing off one end, he blew into the tube to achieve the desired size and shape of the bead. As a final touch he gave the ends a twist.
Only one available. Tom passed away in the fall of 2024.
