Rene gets her magical effects by rolling sheets of many different kinds of metal leaf onto the hot surface of the glass.
Internationally respected artist and teacher, Rene Roberts grew up on a beach in California and remembers as a child noticing that each grain of sand was a different color. She never stopped noticing details like this and still lives near the ocean.
Meticulous in her work, she confided to me when I visited her studio, that she offers the beads that don't meet her high standards to the sea, sending them flying into the surf. But I'm not telling you where!
