It's hard to find variety in purple stones so I bought some of this stone, billed as "Suzanite', this year in Tucson. I haven't been able to find anything online about it so it's probably a "trade name" attached to a fairly one or more rocks or minerals that hasn't made its debut on the internet yet.
There is such a thing a Susannite, but the color doesn't match.
On closer inspection, these actually look to me like they could be carefully sorted amethyst and cape amethyst beads.
In any case they're pretty, not too expensive considering the amount of cutting, polishing, grading and sorting involved, and they offer a nice range of light to dark purple tints and shades. Enjoy!
