Bold, dark green Guatemalan greenstone beads on graduated 22-inch strands
Beads range from 9x11mm to 12x20mm
These are exactly the type of beads Frieda Kahlo is often pictures wearing
They were popular among both the Maya and the ancient Aztec people
I have several sources for these Maya reproduction beads throughout Guatemala
Guatemalan Greenstone is a form of Serpentine, and among a class of green stones, referred to as "cultural jades" by archeologists, because the Maya used them interchangeably with real jade, apparently valuing all of these stones equally.
