Guatemalan natural Jadeite small dark green axe blade shaped pendants 27mm long by 14mm wide at top where the hole is. This particular jade (almost black) is one of 12 colors that are found at the original deposit.
From the workshop of Jay and Mary Lou Ridinger, archeologists, who discovered the source of ancient Maya jade in 1974, partially funded by the National Geographic Society. The source had been lost since Spanish conquest.
They currently maintain a small museum in Antigua, Guatemala and employ dozens of Maya carvers who make contemporary and traditional designs for their shop.
I am delighted that my long time relationship with the shop, now allows me to order the designs I want in the colors I want so if you have special requests, let me know.
