These clasps are made of Thai silver then plated with 24k gold in the USA. The plating is very heavy 20-25 micro inches. My supplier reports that he's tested it by running the clasps through his tumbler for 30 minutes and although they aren't quite as bright when they come out they are still gold plated. That's an extraordinary test and it validates our experience of selling these clasps in the Beadazzled stores for over 20 years. That this is hands down the best gold vermeil available and it really stands up to regular wear.
S-hooks are my favorites due to their symmetrical design, sturdiness, and many size and decor variations. They are almost always forged, which work-hardens them while retaining enough flexibility to open one side just enough to slide the ring on and off
