These beads are formed when molten silver spatters onto a surface as other products are being made. When the "chips" cool they are drilled to make the wonderfully unique small beads - about 2x4mm
The 26-inch strand contains nearly 400 of these one-of-a-kind beads
Only one strand available it weighs over 62 grams
The texture of these beads adds variety, and a serendipitous, nature-made quality to bracelets and necklaces, even when only a few are used.
Thai Silver beads and pendants are made from 96 to 99% silver vs sterling, which is only 92.5% silver
Our Thai silver (aka Hill Tribe) is made by Karen smiths and other ethnic groups living in villages in the highlands of the Golden Triangle near Chiang Mai. In addition to the beautiful soft glow of the fine silver, the work is meticulous, often featuring detailed stamped or etched designs in traditional, as well as contemporary, shapes and patterns.
Finer silver tarnishes less than sterling, but adding a polishing cloth to your silver purchases is always a good idea. Regular gentle rubbing will keep the silver from needing to be cleaned with harsh chemicals.
