Strand of recycled Indonesian glass beads, dark amber form bottle glass, graduated from 5x8 to 9x11mm
Only one 19-inch strand, with 70 especially nicely polished beads
These glass beads made in Java, Indonesia, are unusual in that they are made with lapidary (stone-cutting) techniques. Rather than making the hole as the bead is formed, it is drilled. And it seems the beads themselves are cut out of slabs of glass then ground to achieve the desired shape.
Holes are generally about 2mm, but since they are drilled from both ends the channel is often smaller in the middle where the two holes meet.
