Antique amulet case known as Gau, found mostly in Tibet and other Himalayan regions. 30mm wide and 50mm tall. Set with 5mm turquoise cab.
I bought this in Kathmandu in 1983. The detail in the background on the front and the copper back, as well as the gentle wear evident on the lower cylindrical shape are indicators of its age. (Don't tell the vendors that we know a copper back is an indicator of age or they'll start making new ones with copper backs!)
