Ancient Carnelian beads from Afghanistan 16-inch strand
Mostly tiny 2-3mm beads mixed with larger ovals and a "pendant" consisting of two disc shaped beads and a top drilled drop.
These beads were produced, and widely traded throughout Afghanistan, the Indus Valley, Mesopotamia and even as far as Ancient Egypt between 2500-1600 BCE
Carnelian beads were laboriously shaped, drilled, and polished with Bronze age tools - a stunning achievement
