Blue and white porcelain originated in China during the Tang Dynasty (618-906) with blue on light grey. During the Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368) the recipes were improved and Chinese blue and white porcelain began reaching the Middle East.
By the 16th century large quantities blue-and-white had arrived in Europe, brought first by the Portuguese, and later the Dutch East India Company. Soon decorative and functional vessels were being made for this market and copied worldwide.
To the best of my knowledge blue-and-white porcelain beads did not appear until well into the 20th century.
