Glowing strand of White Heart Eye Beads, 12mm diameter on 23-inch Strand
White hearts have a long history and remain beloved around the world for their colors which are achieved by layering translucent glass, usually red, over white cores so that some of the light is reflected back out through the glass
These red eye beads were particularly popular in Ethiopia
I don't know where they got the name skunk, but it carried over as a "fireside" or "trade name" from the black and white version, also popular worldwide
This strand consists mostly of the later, brighter production, post 1900 when the composition of the red glass, which had formerly been made with gold changed, but there are also some darker ones on this strand
All beads are in near perfect condition
