- Krobo Mini Powderglass beads, 12x6mm on 24-inch strands
- Black base with white & amber dot dots
- The dots are applied after the powderglass bead has been removed from the furnace, removed from the mold, and cleaned.
- The glaze used to make the dots is a paste of finely powdered glass mixed with ceramic coloring agents and a little water. It's applied with a small pointed stick.
- The amount of work in these small beads is impressive!
- Making small beads is actually harder than making large ones, especially when the tools and techniques are just developing. Seed beads, with their tiny sizes and mind-boggling array of colors, were considered nothing short of miraculous when introduced to Native Americans. For people used to carving beads of shell, wood and stone with simple tools seed beads were an instant hit.
