  • Short 11 inch strand of mini yellow Hebron beads interspersed with small grey powderglass "crumb" beads -ie beads made up of broken bits of other beads.
  • The unusually small Hebron beads are 8x5mm
  • On close examination there are flecks of color, but overall the effect is grey. The process works a lot better at a larger scale.
  • Old Hebron beads (Aka Kano beads after the Nigerian market where they were found in abundance) were made in Hebron near Jerusalem and traded across the Sahara. Hausa traders in Nigeria are reported to have hoarded great quantities, especially of the yellow color which was used by African beadmakers in both Nigeria and Ghana to create their own beads before recycled bottle glass became widely available after 1880.
