Green "greasy" glass, chrysoprase color, short barrels 7x9mm on 28-inch strand
"Greasy" refers to a soft sheen like the finish on polished stone beads
The earliest molded glass amulets date back to 2000 BC
Bohemian glass workers invented the button mold in 1732, but the didn't get around to making molded beads until 100 years later. They quickly developed the techniques for making colorful molded glass reproductions of anything people valued: animal teeth, coral, snake vertabrae, shells, charms, etc. These were especially popular in the African trade 1850-1900.
