Bought in Abidjan, Ivory Coast when I lived there in 1971 and I've seen very few since then.
Snail shell beads are thinner than Clam Shell heishi and much thinner than Ostrich Eggshell heishi. They also have a soft grey tone, as opposed to the white or creamy color of other African shell beads.
